In Greek mythology, the Pegasus is often referred to as the source from which poets found their inspiration - the name itself is thought to derive from the Greek word pēgē, which means “spring, well.” In that spirit, the Pegasus Wind Symphony exists to present a well of new and existing musical works to an audience thirsty for excellent musical performance. Local musician creates Pegasus Wind Symphony

Known locally as a band director and conductor who celebrates the arts through the magic of music, Bill Petersen is living a dream with the creation of the Pegasus Wind Symphony.

Bringing together more than 40 musicians from northwest Illinois and surrounding states, Petersen will conduct the first concert of the newly formed symphony at 3 p.m. Saturday at Masonic Temple in Freeport.
